City of Corona Del Mar

Corona del Mar (Spanish for the Crown of the Sea) is a community as beautiful as its name. Nestled on the foot of the San Joaquin Hills and fronting the Pacific Ocean, Corona del Mar ranges along a bluff at the south end of Newport Beach and includes some of Orange County's most prestigious residential areas.

There are 33,071 households out of which 18.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.5% are  (Two people who are married to each other) married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 48.7% are non-families. 35.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.09 and the average family size is 2.71.

In the city the population is spread out with 15.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $83,455, and the median income for a family is $111,166. Males have a median income of $73,425 versus $45,409 for females. The  (The total national income divided by the number of people in the nation) per capita income for the city is $63,015. 4.4% of the population and 2.1% of families are below the  (A level of personal income defining the state of poverty) poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.0% of those under the age of 18 and 3.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Until the late 1920s, Corona del Mar was a tiny village, reached from the peninsula by small boat at high tide, or by a muddy dirt road that crossed over the Irvine Ranch. Today, Corona del Mar offers many landmark places to visit, as well as some of the most trendy shops and restaurants.
